Science Museum
Visitor Information System
A museum-wide visitor information and navigation system. Visitors use touch-screen displays to show what’s on in the museum.
|
The Visitor Information System at the Science Museum is the most sophisticated of its kind anywhere in the world.
Each of the 42 touch-screen kiosks has information about What's On in the museum today, IMAX shows, Exhibitions and Galleries, maps and pictures showing the visitor how to get around the museum.
A floorplan showing the third floor and information about the Flight Gallery.
Visitors can find their way around by consulting the navigational maps on each terminal.
The terminals contain information about What's On in the museum today including IMAX cinema shows and daily events.
A Content Management System is used to update the information on a daily basis.
All the terminals are connected to a network which allows them to be updated quickly and easily from any computer on the intranet.
